Electromagnetic Flow Meter
An Electromagnetic Flow Meter(mag flow meter) is a volumetric flow meter which does not have any moving parts and is ideal for wastewater applications or any dirty liquid which is conductive or water based. It will generally not work with hydrocarbons, distilled water and many non-aqueous solutions). Electromagnetic Flow Meter are also ideal for applications where low pressure drop and low maintenance are required.
Electromagnetic Flow Meter is based on Faraday's Law of electromagnetic Induction. In a electromagnetic flow meter, the liquid acts as a conductor as it flows through the pipe. This induces a voltage which is proportional to the average flow velocity - the faster the flow rate, the higher the voltage. This voltage is picked up by sensing electrodes mounted in the meter tube and sent to the transmitter which takes the voltage and calculates the flow rate based on the cross sectional area of the meter tube.
The measuring accuracy of Electromagnetic flow meter won't be impacted by the changes of fluid density, viscosity, temperature, pressure and conductivity. The sensor induced voltage signal is a linear relationship with flow rate, therefore the measuring accuracy is high.
