Variable Area Flow Meters
Variable Area Flow Meters A variable area meter is a meter that measures fluid flow by allowing the cross sectional area of the device to vary in response to the flow, causing some measurable effect that indicates the rate. Variable area flow meters measure the flow rate of liquids and gases by means of a tapered tube and float. The float is pushed up by increasing fluid flow and pulled down by gravity as fluid flow decreases, except for the spring-loaded MH model. Variable area flowmeters do not require external power, but may be ordered with electrical or electronic options.
