How to Select Ultrasonic Flow Meter Properly Ultrasonic flow meter is famous as its transducers’ convenient installing and easy operation,but in order to make ultrasonic flow meter work properly,user still need to know some basic rule so that can select ultrasonic flow meter properly.This text mainly lists the some necessary basic rules of ultrasonic flow meter type selection guide. Ultrasonic flow meter is well known for its transducer clamp-on installing features.With clamp-on transducers, ultrasonic flow meter is easy to install and easy to operate. But users still need to know some basic rules for type selection before using ultrasonic flow meters.The following are some factors that users need to consider: 1. Is the liquid dirty or clean?Does the liquid have particles more than 200ppm and particle size larger than 75um? If the liquid is dirty,dopper ultrasonic flow meters should be the first considering. If the liquid is clean or average,transit-time ultrasonic flow meter will be ideal choice. 2. Is the liquid full of pipe? If yes, ultrasonic flow meters can work well. 3. Portable ultrasonic flow meters or fixing ultrasonic flow meters? If want flow meter to measure over one pc of pipe at certain period,portable ultrasonic flow meter is good choice. If want to measure one pipe for long time, fixing ultrasonic flow meters will be a better choice. 4. The transducers temperature range can meet temperature range of fluid. 5.If using insertion or inline transducers, please note the Max pressure 6.What output is need?Analogue,pulse,RS485?Data logger? 7.Pipe size range 8.Pipe material?Lining? 9. Is there enough straight installing section? It will at least need 15D distance(here D is diameter of pipe.) The upstream is 10D,and the downstream is 5D. The distance from valve or pump’s exit should be 30D. 10.What power supply available? By the question above, it can confirm which type ultrasonic flow meters will be needed.
